The eighth annual SMAWL Animal Fair was held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the St. Mary's County Fairgrounds from 10 AM to 4 PM. The weather was perfect and the crowd was wonderful! A great time was had by all and we hope to see you next year – May 11, 2013.
The St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League is an annual festival attended by over 1,100 people and their pets. It is a day for people and their pets to play and shop together. The fair features non-stop demonstrations, pet games, vendors, microchipping, a pet pageant, equine demonstrations, a pet parade and much more.
The purpose of the Animal Fair is to create interest and generate support for local animal welfare and rescue groups and their supporting industries. Our goal is to stage a quality event in order to help SMAWL raise much needed funds to continue our no-kill rescue and adoption program.
The homeless and neglected animals of our community count on us to be their voice. We hope that you’ll join us in speaking for the animals this year. There are several ways that you can help:

Animal Rescue groups are encouraged to bring their animals looking for a furever home as there will be many potential adopters attending the Fair. There is no charge for rescue groups to have an adoption booth and/or humane education booths; although, we do ask for a $10.00 deposit to hold your space (which will be refunded when you arrive the day of the fair.) Rescue groups who would like to set up a vendor booth to sell items may purchase a space at the non-profit rate of $10.00.
