mag2We absolutely adore Magnolia! She is precious and brings multiple smiles and laughs every day. You did a wonderful job socializing her while she was fostered. Everyone who meets her falls in love! Our other two cats are slow accepting her but Magnolia's handling it well and we're making progress.

I adopted a cat at Petco the first week of Auust.  She is a darling little cat.  Thank you so much!  Mona (you called her "Mama Mona") has adjusted well to our multi-cat household.

She is happy and fat!

Merry Christmas!

odieDear SMAWL,

Today marks one week with our new (old) dog, Odie, and we are happy to say (and please don't take this the wrong way), you may NEVER have him back!

My husband and I are absolutely in love with him!! He has been the perfect dog. He seemed a bit depressed on the first day, but we expected as much, since he has been through so much upheaval in the past month or two. On his second day, the honor of his presence was requested at a cookout, where he interacted all day with two great danes, a French bulldog, and a bullmastiff. He did wonderfully! He perked up as soon as he saw them. All the dogs played well together, and at the end of our outing, Odie was instigating the barking at strangers walking on the park trail on the other side of the fenced yard. He was such a "tough guy." Haha...if only they knew -- he can't stay awake but 20 minutes at a time.

gizmo smBoy oh boy, do we ever love our little Gizmo! We are so lucky! Of course, he has a whopping case of separation anxiety, having lost his lifelong home and lifelong buddies, but I expected that, having recalled you saying he followed you room to room and didn't want to stay outside by himself. So, I'm doing the "prescribed" anxiety desensitization exercises, and he's gaining more confidence daily. He'll now wander off into other rooms to take naps and will "stay" or "wait" quietly, if not patiently, when I go behind closed doors during the training exercises. And he now waits at the bottom of the steps when I go upstairs, rather than scrambling up after me. I don't know if he'll ever completely get over his anxiety, but his progress so far gives us hope. Poor little guy--our goal is for him to feel comfortable and not to worry, which is a tall order, given his history.

Hi from Boog

Well it has been a year since I came to my forever home and I thought it was a good time to say hi to my friends at SMAWL. It’s been a very event filled year for me. Just about as soon as I came into my new home, my mommy took me to basic obedience class at Petco. I had quite a few of the basics already mastered, so I aced this class for sure. We were going to the dog park frequently until it all of a sudden got very dark very early. Fortunately we then found Chesapeake Pet Spa and I’ve been going there for doggie daycare twice a week since. It is always fun to hang with other dogs.
