Events & NewsSMAWL Rings in the Fall Season With October Events For immediate release Leonardtown, MD - Are you considering adding a new pet to your family? If so, the St. Mary's Animal Welfare League would like to invite you to meet their adoptable pets during their October adoption events. On Saturday, October 3, October 17, and October 24 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., you can meet SMAWL's adoptable pets at Petco located in California, MD. The public is invited to come out and meet SMAWL's adoptable dogs and cats, and to learn more about volunteering with or becoming a member of SMAWL. For more information, call 301-373-5659. On Sunday, October 11, SMAWL's adoptable pets will show their tropical side as they go "down island" at That Darn Tiki Bar, a pet-lovers event featuring fun animal events as well as adoptable pets from local rescue groups. The event is held at the Tiki Bar in Solomons, MD, and runs from noon until 6:00 p.m. SMAWL's popular monthly low-cost rabies clinic will be held on Monday, October 12, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the St. Mary's County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown. A veterinarian will administer the rabies vaccination to pets while leashed, in a carrier, or in a car or trailer. Vaccines are $10 for each pet; all local residents are welcomed to take advantage of this life-saving clinic for their pets.
