SMAWL Miracles

Hi Everyone,

We have a SMAWL Miracle to share that is a little unusual than our norm. One of our wonderful PETCO Volunteers recently rescued a young seven month old kitten, Mattie Joe, who had been living outdoors in the cold. He was already neutered, but not microchipped. We had him vetted. She watched her neighborhood for signs, but no one seemed to be looking for him, so we went ahead and put him up for adoption. After having him for a couple of weeks, we came across an ad on www.somd.com of someone missing a cat in the same neighborhood who matched his description.

Upon contacting them, we discovered that our Mattie Joe was their Lewis. True to the SMAWL mission statement, we have spent some time educating the family on the county Animal Control regulations for cats as well as proper Vetting requirements. We ensured they follow through on having their other cat vetted prior to allowing Lewis to return home.

We're happy share that SMAWL Miracle ends with not only Lewis being back with his family living life as an indoor kitty, but through the rescue of Mattie Joe, two cats were saved and are now safe, warm and properly vetted. I'm sure his Rescuer will be keeping a watchful eye around the neighborhood though, to see that he is not out wandering again.
