My Fifth Day in Foster Care -- Making Friends
April 4, 2005

Foster Mom was up early, bringing me grain. I ate a good amount of hay and she was pleased. She cleaned my stall while I ate my grain and then she put me in the pasture with Whitney. It was a beautiful spring day. She left us for a long time, almost 9 hours. She was worried that I might get too much fresh grass, but there was hay in the pasture also, and I ate some of that. It was a peaceful, pleasant, relaxing day. I can't ever remember feeling so wonderful.....i have food and my mare friend and sunshine on my back. Mom and Dad came home in the afternoon. I got brushed and brushed and ate lots of grain. Foster Mom brushed all the other horses too because we are all shedding like crazy. She put the 4 horses in the back pasture. I was upset because I was the only one left in the barn. But she brushed me and I relaxed and ate hay. I guess she is leaving me for the night, but I have hay and water and I am out of the wind. The temperature can drop on these early Spring nights. I don't have any body fat, so they want to keep me comfortable. These days are becoming more routine and I like that. Mom says that maybe tomorrow she will put the other mare, Rainey, in the pasture with me and Whitney. WooHoo, I love these mares!
