Snowflake's StoryMy Second Weekend at My Foster Home -- Contented Like I said before, I like weekends. My foster family gets to spend more time with me. This weekend the weather was beautiful, amost 70 degrees. I was sweating in some spots. I am still shedding out so much hair. When I get brushed, I am loosing big patches of hair. It looks like just skin underneath when my winter coat is removed, but soon I shall be sprouting a sassy fresh thin summer coat. But for now, I look like a bag of bones with mange! On Saturday, about 60 people on horseback rode through my foster home. It was exciting. Some of the riders came over to see me, they had heard my story. It is nice that so many people care. My personal assitant dropped off some more feed and stall dry and my dailey wormer. Nice people have donated money or certain items to take care of me. My personal assistant is responsible for making sure I have everything I need. She is one of my many people who care. Sunday I was allowed to graze in the yard with my mares Whitney and Rainey. My foster parents call it my job -- that is "mowing" the lawn. We don't graze as neatly as a lawn mower, but it is fun. It makes me feel like part of the family as my foster parents do their chores and watch friends and neighbors stop by to visit. I just munch and watch the activity. Sometimes I even walk up and ask to be petted. I do some napping too. After so many years in a pasture by myself with nothing to watch or do, I feel like I am finally seeing a new part of the world. I am becoming accustomed to the routine of my temporary home. I am no longer frenzied and panicked. I stay in the barn at night and quietly eat and doze. In the morning I am anxious to be out with my friends. |
