Welcome

The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League is a nonprofit, rescue organization that specializes in the rescue, care and placement of abused, neglected and homeless companion animals. Our animals are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and receive medical treatment before being placed in carefully selected homes. We strive to educate the community in areas of humane education and responsible pet ownership, as well as helping to control the pet overpopulation in our area by promoting the spaying and neutering of all companion animals.

Important Notice

ATTENTION – ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING & ELECTION OF OFFICERS

On February 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. SMAWL will have General Membership Meeting and Election of Officers and/or new Board Members. The positions up for election are Vice President and Secretary and there are two open Board positions. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room at The Dorsey Law Firm located at 22835 Washington Street, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650. This meeting is open to the public and we encourage you to come join us and be part of our Good News Network! We hope to see you on the 8th of February.

4 moving boxes of bedding for kennels/crates and $135.00 for SMAWL!

Grand total of.....{drum roll please}....827 pounds of food and treats!

We not only reached our goal of 600 pounds, we blew it out of the water! THANK YOU to all those who donated, helped get the word out and for the businesses who graciously allowed us to place collection boxes in their stores, without all of you we couldn't have done it!

2011 Year End Appeal

As we approach the end of another year it is a time to reflect on all we are grateful for and all the blessings we have. Two years ago we came to you, our members and sponsors, in an effort to match the grant we receive for our spay/neuter program and it was a huge success.

king sm Hi there ! My name is King and my royal name suits me just fine ! I came to SMAWL when my Mom had to go into assisted living and couldn't take me with her. I was very sad, but SMAWL promised they'd find me a loving home to call my own. I am a handsome devil, about 3-5 years young, neutered, up to date on everything and micro chipped. I probably would do best in a home with experienced owners and no children under 10 yrs of age. I get a little nervous in new environments but once I settle in I'll be your friend for life ! Please give me something really special for Christmas - a new home to call my own !

Dimitri Hi there ! My name is Dimitri and boy do I have a story to tell. You see, I was hit by a car and a very nice person took me to the hospital. I was pretty banged up and the vet said the only way to save my life was to amputate one of my legs! Whew...that was something ! But now I'm all healed and I don't even miss it. I get around just fine and that's a good thing because I'm only about a year old so I have lots of livin' to do ! I'm really hoping someone can overlook my slight "disability" and open their home to a young, handsome fella. I am friendly and sweet and at least for now, prefer a more laid back environment. I get along with dogs and other cats but while I'm still getting used to my 3 legs I'll probably need a little extra space. But I know it will be love at first sight...how 'bout it?

banjo sm Hi there ! My name is Banjo and I am a young Chihuahua mix ! My foster mom says I am a dream come true ! Smart and funny and house trianed and crate trained. I love to keep her company and "help" around the house. I get along with other dogs and all in all am just about perfect !
